John receives NSF Dissertation Improvement Grant!

John's proposal, "Biotic interactions and the geographic range limit of Clarkia xantiana across a complex environmental gradient" examines the interplay of plant-microbe interactions and plant-consumer interactions and their role in setting the range limit of C. xantiana.

New paper out in Ecology Letters

Dave and Ryan have a new paper in press in Ecology Letters, a meta-analysis looking at mating system variation in seed plants across the globe. Check it out here.

Research on prairie plant dispersal featured on CBS Blog

The lab is collaborating with Allison Shaw and Lauren Sullivan (EEB) on a new project that quantifies the seed and pollen dispersal kernals of several prairie plant species using next-gen sequencing and paternity analysis, and incorporates this information into models of dispersal in fragmented landscapes. Amanda awarded Anderson grant!

Amanda Gorton was chosen to receive an Alexander and Lydia Anderson research grant from UMN! This grant supports graduate student summer research in the plant and animal sciences. Congrats Amanda!

John awarded the Brand Fellowship!

John Benning was chosen from a competitive pool of applicants to receive the Charles J. Brand Fellowship for the 2017-2018 academic year. The Brand fellowship rewards top graduate students in the botanical sciences at UMN. Congrats John!

Amanda starts her rainfall manipulation experiment

Amanda has started a large urban field experiment in Minneapolis, manipulating rainfall to look at local adaptation in ragweed -- read about it here.
